Program Overview
The MFD Emergency Services National Academy's Structure Fire and Hazmat Programs were designed with you in mind.
#1: Designed for Working Professionals
As Paramedic/Firefighters, we understand you cannot put your life, or your career, on hold for extended amounts of time to achieve Firefighting and EMS certifications.
As educators, as working professionals, and as learners we have designed a program that is proven to achieve results while also giving you maximum flexibility for your personal and professional life.
The Structure Firefighter and Hazmat Programs have the perfect balance between on-line instruction and in-person instruction to accommodate your busy schedule.
#2: Study at Home Then Refine with Guided Instruction
This is a hybrid course. This means you will spend time completing work online and then you will complete in-person training each week.
The online classes will give you the opportunity to learn concepts and then, during class, apply the principles you have learned.
#3: Participate in Skills Labs
Students will participate in hands-on labs during their in-person training.
These skills labs will be completed while the student is wearing the appropriate structure firefighting or Hazmat personal protective equipment.
Students will become proficient in the skills needed to operate on structure fire and Hazmat emergency incidents. This includes becoming skilled in using the various tools associated with both firefighting and Hazmat tasks.
#4: Course Completion
After completing the necessary firefighting or Hazmat course work, you will take two state exams. One is a written exam and the other is a hands-on practical exam.
Once you have successfully completed the required testing, you will receive an IFSAC (International Fire Service Accreditation Congress) certificate that can be presented nationwide authenticating your training as a Firefighter I or in Hazmat Operations.
